How to Know If Mental Health Services are Right for You (And What to Expect From Integrative Psychiatry)

It’s not always easy to know when to seek help, or where to start. Whether you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected, or just not like yourself lately, you might be wondering: Would therapy help me? Or is there something else I should explore?

At Elevate Wellness & Psychiatry, we take a slightly different approach. While we don’t provide in-house therapy, we do offer expert psychiatric medication management and personalized mental health care, and we make psychotherapy recommendations through trusted local partners. Our goal is to support you with both evidence-based treatments and whole-person wellness guidance.

Signs You Might Benefit from Therapy or Psychiatry Support:

  • You’re feeling stuck, sad, or anxious most days

  • You’ve tried to “push through it,” but things still feel heavy

  • You’re having trouble sleeping, concentrating, or eating normally

  • You’ve lost interest in activities that used to bring you joy

  • Your relationships, work, or daily life are being impacted

What Makes Our Approach Different:

When people hear "psychiatry," they often think: quick appointment, get a prescription, leave. That’s not what we do here.

At Elevate, we offer longer, more intentional appointments, often up to 30 minutes, so we can really get to know you. We ask about more than just your symptoms. We want to know:

  • Are you moving your body?

  • Are you getting outside?

  • What’s your appetite like?

  • How are your energy levels?

  • What brings you peace?

We consider all these aspects to help guide our medication decisions, supplement recommendations, and referrals. It's an integrative model, one that blends the best of holistic and science-based care.

Therapy + Psychiatry = A Powerful Combo

If you're new to mental health care, it can feel confusing to figure out who does what. In simple terms:

  • A therapist helps you work through emotions, habits, patterns, and trauma in talk therapy sessions.

  • A psychiatric provider (that’s us!) helps you manage mental health symptoms with tools like medication, supplements, and lifestyle strategies.

Together, therapy and psychiatry can create a powerful support system.

How We Can Help You Start:

We’ll guide you through the entire process. If therapy is a good fit, we’ll recommend a local therapist. If medications or other treatments (like Spravato® or TMS) could help, we’ll talk you through those options too.

Final Thoughts

You don’t have to figure it all out alone. Whether you’re curious about therapy, wondering if medication might help, or just need someone to talk to—Elevate Wellness & Psychiatry is here for you.
