Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how a person's brain is wired, influencing their ability to regulate attention, manage impulses, and control hyperactivity.
It’s a common misconception that people with ADHD just can't focus. In reality, it's often a struggle to control what they focus on, leading to challenges with organization, time management, and follow-through in daily life.
Symptoms of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
ADHD is a developmental disorder characterized by an ongoing pattern of one or more of the following types of symptoms:
Inattention
Difficulty staying on task, listening closely, and keeping things organized, which can lead to forgetfulness and a tendency to get easily distracted
Hyperactivity
Feeling restless, fidgety, or having a constant need to be "on the go." This can be a physical restlessness or a mental one, with a constant stream of thoughts.
Impulsivity
Acting without thinking, which can show up as blurting out answers, interrupting others, or making hasty decisions
